Owner speaks : Retired aerospace engineer.
Over 50 years of offshore sailing, initially on a steel Sigma 30 (Joubert design) fitted out from a bare hull, then on a JNF 38 made of thick aluminium, built entirely by the owner.
Tired of long transoceanic crossings, the idea of a boat suited to a programme of European sea and river sailing took shape, inspired by the Ecotroll (Brouns + Méta). Whilst retaining a rig to supplement the engines for safety and comfort. The technical design prioritises reliability and serviceability whilst minimising maintenance. The concept won over JP Brouns, and Kanawa has fulfilled its purpose perfectly, completing numerous voyages in Ireland, Scotland and Spain, as well as covering a large part of France’s canals and rivers, without a single technical issue.
Today, for me, the chapter on sailing is drawing to a close, making way for other modes of travel.
