Description Dufour 41 classic
DUFOUR 41 CLASSIC "GARFIELD" — 1996 — CONTINUOUS MAINTENANCE HISTORY
CAP MED BOAT & YACHT CONSULTING presents this 1996 Dufour 41 Classic, named "GARFIELD". At 11.89 metres with a 3.97-metre beam and a 1.89-metre draft, this Dufour Yachts cruiser offers one of the best volume-to-accommodation ratios of her generation: three cabins, eight berths and two shower rooms with heads — a rare configuration at this size.
What sets this yacht apart is the continuity of her maintenance. Structural items have been addressed over the years: standing rigging and furler replaced in 2015; upholstery, hull linings, cabin carpets, Jabsco heads, pumps, piping and taps renewed in 2017; three deck hatches replaced in 2018. Part of the interior varnish has also been redone. She was upgraded again recently: service battery bank and engine battery renewed in July 2026, anchor chain replaced at the same time, handheld VHF replaced with a new Icom IC-M37E, and a stainless gas barbecue fitted.
Power is a Yanmar 3JH2-TCE on an SD31 saildrive with a three-blade propeller, showing approximately 2,800 hours at the last inventory. Mechanical follow-up is documented and regular: oil changes, filters, impeller, belt, cooling hoses and exhaust elbow replaced, with a new water pump in 2026.
The sail wardrobe is particularly complete for voyaging: furling genoa, semi-battened mainsail in good condition, gennaker with furler, symmetrical spinnaker, staysail on a removable inner forestay, storm jib, spinnaker pole and bowsprit, all with a lazy bag. Two spare sails, genoa and mainsail, come with the boat — at the end of their life but useful as backup.
Autonomy has been improved: two 180 W solar panels (360 W total) with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 30 A controller, a bank of four 110 Ah service batteries and an independent engine battery. Below decks, a two-burner gas cooker, a fridge with cooling unit, a pressurised water system and 410 litres of fresh water across two tanks make long-distance cruising a realistic prospect.
Ground tackle relies on a Cayman electric windlass with remote control and 65 metres of 10 mm chain. Electronics include a Raymarine ST4000/ST6000 autopilot, Geonav Gypsy GPS, log-speedometer, depth sounder, wind vane, anemometer and an RT55 fixed VHF with AIS.
Safety equipment is complete for offshore sailing: 8-person liferaft, eight lifejackets, eight harnesses with tethers, jackstays, horseshoe buoy with self-righting light, distress flares, three fire extinguishers and an emergency tiller.
An honest family cruising yacht, maintained without interruption for years and ready to set off again. Contact CAP MED Boat & Yacht Consulting for the detailed inventory and to arrange a viewing.
