Anthony Cegri, Founder of Cap Med Yacht Consulting
is reinventing the yacht brokerage profession with Le Yacht Manager
Can you tell us about your background and what led you to the nautical world?
You don't choose the sea — it's the sea that calls you.
From a very young age, I was irresistibly drawn to this world, with a strong feeling early on that my future would be tied to the water.
At just 8 years old, I was already spending every summer at sailing school, helping the instructors.
By the age of 15, I had launched my first small business renting paddleboards on the beach.
At 18, I entered the demanding world of used boat sales, and by 20, I stepped into the even more exclusive world of yacht sales — a defining moment that firmly anchored my calling: I didn’t just want to sell boats, I wanted to support life projects at sea.
Driven by this passion, I enriched my journey with a Master’s degree, technical certifications, and numerous hands-on experiences: boat mechanic, sailing instructor, regatta racer, PACA regional champion in long-distance paddleboarding… I’ve always wanted to understand boats from every angle — technical, sporting, human — in order to speak about them accurately, and to
convince with authenticity.
But it’s also the people I’ve met who shaped me. I think of Philippe Lessausse, a recognized expert and golden ear of the French Navy, who offered me a helping hand and opened the doors to this niche market.
Of Oliver Krauss, a talented sailor and shipyard manager, and of course Marc Pajot, legendary sailor and exceptional broker, whom I had the chance to work with for five defining years. From him, I learned discipline, excellence, and strategic thinking. He gave me the confidence to think big and to fight for my own vision of the profession.
Today, all this experience drives me to reinvent yacht brokerage — to bring people, expertise, and service back to the center of the relationship between a boater and their boat.

Do you have a personal boat?
If so, which one, and what does it represent for you?
Yes, I do. I own a 9-meter sailboat: a Jeanneau Rush, the former boat of the Tour de France à la Voile.
This boat holds priceless sentimental value because it belonged to my grandparents, who raised me and passed on their values of life, the sea, and humility.
To me, it’s much more than a boat: it’s a symbol of legacy, a strong family bond, and a constant reminder of my roots. Like any passionate owner, I consider it the most beautiful boat in the world.

How was Cap Med Yacht Consulting born?
At 23 years old, and after already selling a few boats, I decided to turn my passion into a business. Cap Med Yacht Consulting was founded with a clear vision: to bring back high standards, service, and ethics to a profession that can sometimes be too improvised.
Today, we’ve sold around a hundred boats, and we’re established in 9 ports across the south of France, Brittany, and the Caribbean.
But above all, we don’t just sell boats. We create connections.
We support dreams. We offer an experience and strive to honor this noble and time-honored profession that is yacht brokerage.

What is your view on the current evolution of the yachting market?
We are at a turning point. Two years ago, in the post-Covid boom, there were five buyers for one boat. Today, it’s the opposite: five boats for one buyer.
The supply has skyrocketed, demand is lower and more demanding, prices need to adjust, and boaters expect impeccable service. In this context, simply being a "seller" is no longer enough.
You have to guide, advise, secure transactions, and become a true nautical partner.

You wrote a book — why?
Yes, indeed. The book is called “The Quest of the Yacht Broker,” born from a desire to pay tribute to a profession that is often misunderstood but remains essential.
Through this book, I trace the history of the yacht broker over time, their role in the great eras of nautical trade, their constant evolution, and above all, the importance of ushering the profession into a new era.
This profession, deeply rooted in tradition, must now adapt to the new expectations of boaters: more closeness, more transparency, more service.
This reflection naturally led me to envision a new kind of profession — a more modern and hybrid version: the Yacht Manager.

You often talk about a new profession: the Yacht Manager.
How is it different from a traditional broker?
The Yacht Manager is the new face of the yacht broker.
He is no longer just a boat seller — he is a trusted expert, locally rooted, who advises, supports, organizes, and builds loyalty.
He knows every corner of his port, the best service providers, the boats, the owners. He acts as a nautical conductor, capable of offering the boater a tailor-made, smooth, and reassuring experience.
Ultimately, it’s a hybrid profession, at the crossroads of broker, manager, and high-end concierge.
With a double commitment: flawless service and commercial performance.

For independents, it’s a rare and modern opportunity:
They can generate solid commissions on boat sales while enjoying a stable monthly income through concierge services.
They receive a proven method, personalized support, powerful digital tools, and a clear vision: to reinvent their profession for the long term.
For boat owners, it’s a smooth and efficient revolution:
No more hassles, uncertainty, or hit-or-miss "DOCKSIDE RADIO."
"Do you know someone for engine maintenance?"
"Here, try this guy… I heard he’s good."
With us, everything is clear, structured, and professional.
All services are centralized. The Yacht Manager has already selected the best local service providers, tested and approved.
The owner has just one trusted point of contact for everything.

You’re also launching a mobile app.
What is its purpose?
This is where innovation truly makes sense… with the “Yacht Manager” app, the new Radio Ponton 3.0.
A boater opens the app, geolocates their port, and discovers their local Yacht Manager.
In just a few clicks, they can access all the services they need, receive guidance and support — from maintenance to selling their boat.
"You’re happy when you buy a boat… but even happier when you sell it."
With Yacht Managers, the owner is happy throughout the entire journey.
Their boat becomes what it was always meant to be: a joy. Not a burden.

What is your long-term ambition?
To create a national network of independent Yacht Managers. There are 450 ports in France, not including inland waterways. One Yacht Manager for every 3 ports — that’s a realistic medium-term goal.
My ambition isn’t to scale without soul. I want to build a network of passionate, skilled professionals — trained, and proud to make a living from their craft.
And for boaters, it means finally offering a clear, high-quality, and accessible answer to all their nautical needs.

What sets you apart in the market?
We combine a hands-on, artisanal approach with modern tools.
We have a proven method, a culture of high standards, and a deeply human vision of the profession.
We don’t just sell boats. We change people’s lives. And that makes all the difference.

A final word to conclude?
I deeply believe this profession is undergoing a transformation — and it deserves better.
The sea calls to those who are passionate about freedom, driven by self-improvement, and in love with precision. The sea teaches humility. And it is with these values that I move forward every day, to build a project that is fair, sustainable, and ambitious.
To quote Bernard Moitessier — a phrase my mentor Marc Pajot often reminded me of:
“What men have done that is beautiful and good, they have done with their dreams.”
At Cap Med, we dream big. And we invite all those who share these values to come aboard with us.
To those seeking a new profession — concrete, human, and free: become a Yacht Manager.
To all boaters in search of peace of mind: you now have a trusted local ally to help you sail with ease.
