Yachting Address Review — Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095 Fly
The Merry Fisher 1095 Fly is Jeanneau's answer to a question many boaters ask as they grow into their boat: how do you keep all the habitability of the 1095, all the family space and all the cruising capability — while adding the flybridge that was missing?
The answer is convincing. The Fly transforms the 1095 into a boat that can host two families for a week's cruising without anyone feeling cramped — three cabins below, a spacious cockpit, and a full flybridge that doubles the outdoor living space. It is an unapologetically large boat, positioned clearly above the standard 1095 in terms of on-board comfort and cruising versatility.
Fly vs standard 1095: what really changes
Both models share the same hull, the same running surface and the same engine options. What differentiates them is architectural — and this difference is considerable in use.
The Merry Fisher 1095 standard is a walkaround with an enclosed helm station. Its aft cockpit is generous, its panoramic helm station provides excellent protection, and its three cabins allow for a serious week of family cruising. But all outdoor living happens on a single level — the cockpit.
The Merry Fisher 1095 Fly adds a complete upper deck. The flybridge, accessed from the helm station via an integrated staircase, creates a second elevated outdoor living space — secondary helm, lounge, table, sun pad. At anchor in a bay, this becomes the heart of life aboard: panoramic views, breeze at height, natural separation between adults on top and children below. It is a qualitatively different experience from the standard 1095 — not superior in absolute terms, but different in what it offers.
Series 1 and Series 2: what you need to know
The listings on this page reveal the coexistence of Series 1 (2019-2023) and Series 2 (from 2024) — two generations that listings don't always distinguish clearly.
Series 1 is the founding generation of the 1095 Fly — twin outboard Mercury or Yamaha power up to 2 × 300 hp, three-cabin two-heads interior, good-sized flybridge and panoramic enclosed helm. This is the version represented by the two 2021 second-hand examples on this page.
Series 2 (from 2024) brings targeted improvements: redesigned cockpit with better circulation, enlarged flybridge, revised interior finishes. The new unit at €289,000 in Cauro (Corsica) and the two Italian "price on request" units belong to this generation.
Why the €65,000 gap between two 2021 examples
This is the first question any serious buyer asks on this page — one 2021 at €200,000 and another at €265,000. This is not an anomaly: it reflects real, documented differences.
The €200,000 example (Mediterranean France, twin Mercury Verado V8 300 hp) is described as "one of the rare models on the market" — phrasing that suggests a standard unit without major optional equipment. It is a rational entry point on this model if condition is confirmed.
The €265,000 example (Fréjus, Première finish 2021, Fly version, Comfort Pack) includes the highest factory specification available for this model — premium upholstery, full electronics, Comfort Pack with air conditioning and generator. These options represent €40,000 to €60,000 on the new price. The price gap is entirely justified if the boat is in the stated condition.
The engines: 2 × 250 or 2 × 300 hp?
The Merry Fisher 1095 Fly is approved up to 2 × 300 hp — the most common configuration in current listings. The choice between 250 and 300 hp deserves a precise answer.
2 × 250 hp — sufficient for standard coastal family use. Cruising speed between 22 and 26 knots at normal load, controlled consumption at moderate pace. The choice of owners who navigate primarily at economical speeds and want to reduce annual service costs.
2 × 300 hp — the market benchmark on this model. It provides a significant power reserve under heavy load (three cabins occupied, full cruising equipment) and in rough conditions. Top speed exceeds 35 knots — useful when you need to outrun a storm. The purchase premium is €8,000 to €15,000; the resale premium is comparable.
On the second-hand market, examples with twin Mercury Verado V8 300 hp or Yamaha F300 are the most sought-after and the most liquid. They sell faster and are negotiated less.
What the flybridge actually delivers under way
The flybridge helm changes the relationship with the boat and with navigation. From this elevated position 3-4 metres above water, visibility is total — buoys are visible at 500 metres, waves are anticipated, anchorages are spotted from offshore. In good weather, it is a driving experience that gives a different sense of command.
The trade-off is a higher centre of gravity — the Fly is slightly more sensitive to rolling than the standard 1095, particularly at anchor in residual chop. This isn't a dealbreaker, but it is perceptible for crews not used to it.
What to check when buying second-hand
Both outboard engines are the first check — full service history with invoices mandatory on twin 300 hp engines. Impeller replaced at manufacturer intervals, anodes inspected annually, engine mounts checked. On a 2021 unit now 4-5 years old, a preventive full service on both engines should be budgeted if not recently documented.
Flybridge watertightness — plexiglass seals and deck seals around flybridge fittings deserve inspection. An undetected leak can gradually dampen the helm station and interior partitions over several seasons.
Air conditioning on Comfort Pack versions — verify the compressor is working correctly and the refrigerant circuit is in good condition. Marine air conditioning on a 4-5 year old boat may need recharging or servicing if not maintained annually.
Fuel tanks — 2 × 400 litres, 800 litres total. Check for internal condensation and gauge accuracy. On a lightly-used boat, tank bottoms may have deposits to drain before the season.

Our verdict
The Merry Fisher 1095 Fly is the most complete family motor cruiser in the Jeanneau range at this size. It is not the fastest, nor the cheapest — but it is the one that offers the most life aboard simultaneously: three cabins, two heads, a generous cockpit and a flybridge that turns every anchorage into a panoramic terrace. For a family or two couples who want to cruise for a week without crowding each other and truly enjoy the sea, it is one of the best proposals on the French market in this price range. Vigilance on engine condition and Comfort Pack equipment remains essential — but good examples are rare and sell quickly.
