Jeanneau Cap Camarat 7.5 for sale
Yachting Address Review — Jeanneau Cap Camarat 7.5
The Cap Camarat 7.5 is the best-selling 7-metre dayboat in Jeanneau's history — and one of the rare models whose reputation for sea-keeping far exceeds its commercial fame.
Twenty years of production, four generations, two architectures (WA and CC), prices ranging from €24,800 for a 2004 755 WA to €114,000 for a new 2024 Series 3: this page reflects a market exceptional in its depth and diversity. Understanding these generations before searching is the difference between visiting the right boat and wasting time on models that share only a name.
Four generations to distinguish
The Cap Camarat 755 WA (2000-2013, 7.22 to 7.55 metres) is the founding generation. Twin Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki power up to 2 × 150 hp, classic open architecture, 2000s styling. These boats have navigated intensively and some have been re-engined — the La Rochelle example with a 2023 Suzuki 300 hp on a 2002 hull is a typical case. On the market, well-maintained 755 WA models from 2004-2010 negotiate between €24,800 and €45,000 — the most accessible entry point into the Cap Camarat range.
The Cap Camarat 7.5 WA Series 1 (2013-2017, 7.19 to 7.50 metres) marks the transition to a single engine. The philosophy changes: out goes the twin engine of the 755, in comes a single outboard of at least 225 hp — simpler, lighter, more economical. The hull is redesigned for single-engine propulsion and proves more capable in rough conditions than its predecessor. Second-hand 2013-2015 examples between €34,900 and €51,000 represent the rational entry point into the modern generation.
The Cap Camarat 7.5 WA Series 2 (2017-2022, 7.37 to 7.70 metres) is the most widespread generation on the current market and the most balanced in terms of quality-price-modernity ratio. It brings notable improvements over Series 1: redesigned cockpit, enlarged swim platform, simplified T-Top integration, revised interior finishes. Series 2 examples from 2017-2020 between €59,000 and €75,000 constitute the most active centre of market on this page.
The Cap Camarat 7.5 WA Series 3 (from 2022 onwards, 6.96 to 7.74 metres depending on measurement) is the current version — more modern lines, further enlarged cockpit, new equipment integration. New 2024-2026 examples between €80,620 and €114,000 and first 2023 second-hand examples between €95,000 and €110,000 represent this near-new market.
WA or CC: two boats, two uses
The distinction between the WA (Walk Around) and CC (Center Console) versions is fundamental and often under-explained in listings.
The WA is the historical model — forward helm station with cabin below, side decks allowing circulation to the bow, aft cockpit. It is the versatile architecture par excellence: protection for skipper and passengers, minimal overnight habitability, easy bow access. This is the version that dominates listings by volume.
The CC (Center Console) is the architecture without a helm station — a central console surrounded by a completely open 360-degree deck. It is the choice of anglers and active water sports enthusiasts: move freely around the boat, follow a fishing line end-to-end, access the bow from either side. The Cap Camarat 7.5 CC Series 3 exists in a very well-equipped version for offshore fishing with dedicated equipment. The trade-off is the complete absence of bad-weather protection and habitability.
On the second-hand market, WA models sell more broadly — they attract a wider audience including families and versatile boaters. CC models attract a more specific but loyal profile, with slightly slower resale but buyers who know exactly what they want.
What makes the Cap Camarat 7.5 sea-keeping reputation
This is the point that all owners mention spontaneously and that few editorial analyses treat seriously. The deep-V hull of the Cap Camarat 7.5 — common to all generations from Series 1 onwards — is its most valuable technical signature.
On a 7-metre boat, the difference between a pronounced V-hull and a flat-bottomed hull is felt spectacularly from force 3 upwards. Where flat-bottomed competitors slam, bounce and fatigue their crews, the Cap Camarat 7.5 passes through. This is not an architectural miracle — it is the result of a deliberate choice that sacrifices a little static stability in favour of dynamic behaviour in rough conditions. This choice explains why Breton and Atlantic coast owners choose this boat where other boaters on the same coastlines would reach for an enclosed helm station.
Engine configurations through the generations
The evolution of Cap Camarat 7.5 engine configurations through its generations reflects the outboard market evolution over twenty years.
The 755 WA: twin power, typically 2 × 115 to 2 × 150 hp Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki. This twin configuration offered propulsion redundancy at the cost of doubled servicing. Examples re-engined with a single more powerful modern engine (such as the 2023 Suzuki 300 hp on the 2002 hull) are an interesting option that modernises the boat at low cost.
Series 1 and Series 2: single outboard of at least 225 hp, typically Yamaha F225 or F250, or Mercury 225-250 V6. The Yamaha F225 configuration is the most common and most appreciated for its reliability and SAV network. The Mercury 300 L6 on the Cauro example at €59,000 (215 hours, Series 2) is an uncommon high-performance configuration that is highly appreciated at the helm.
Series 3: up to 250 hp in WA, up to 300 hp in CC. Series 3 has also moved to more powerful engine options to accompany the boat's increase in length and weight.
What to check when buying second-hand
On old 755 WA (2000-2010): condition of both engines or re-engined unit with full service history. Osmosis to be checked on hulls over 15 years old using a moisture meter during a haul-out. Upholstery and bimini often tired — negotiating points.
On Series 1 (2013-2017): condition of the single outboard with service history. These boats are now 8-12 years old — impeller, anodes and filters must have been replaced regularly. Condition of helm station plexiglass seals deserves inspection.
On Series 2 (2017-2022): same engine vigilance. Verify correct operation of electric trim tabs and bow thruster if fitted. Series 2 upholstery in light colours is UV-sensitive — inspect cockpit cushions carefully.
On recent Series 3: near-new market, little specific vigilance. Verify full options inventory and documented first engine service.

Our verdict
The Cap Camarat 7.5 is one of the best-built and best sea-keeping 7-metre dayboats on the French market. Its reputation is not the product of marketing — it is the result of twenty years of owners returning to this model for its V-hull that has never let them down. The 2018-2020 Series 2 in 225-250 hp represents today the best modernity-depreciation-reliability ratio in the catalogue on this page. Series 3 is promising but still too close to new-price to offer a genuine second-hand opportunity. And re-engined 755 WA models are smart purchases for those who want the Cap Camarat philosophy on a limited budget.
