Designed for autonomous, transoceanic navigation with family or friends, Pen Doar comfortably accommodates 6 people. The vessel has undergone a full rebuild — everything is either new or fully refurbished. It is equipped with five sails on furlers and Harken tracks, as well as a Parasailor.
The engine, a GM Detroit 6-cylinder 2-stroke diesel — robust and fuel-efficient — has been fully rebuilt. This is a true “home on the water” with all offshore navigation equipment.
The owner is parting with the vessel for health reasons.

Originally named Buyuk Amiral, Pen Doar was built in 1988 by its first owner to sail the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. It is a seaworthy and very comfortable vessel, capable of handling 50-knot winds — something we have personally verified five times. Between 2018 and 2023, we undertook a complete refit to make the boat autonomous and transocean-ready.
Modifications & Improvements
• Hull: Planks replaced with 6 cm thick Tali wood from Guinea-Bissau – a fire-resistant, rot-proof, extremely hard wood with a highly corrosive essential oil.
• Keel: Extended from 2.20 m to 2.70 m, reinforced with a doubled keelson and 13 stainless steel rods (26 mm), totaling 9.5 tons.
• Bulwark: 6 cm thick and 25 cm wide Tali wood installed around the entire hull.
• Wheelhouse & Coachroof: Rebuilt with 10 mm South American Guatambu wood cladding; wheelhouse features anti-break-in glass.
• Deck & Cockpit: Covered in Seacork – comfortable and insulating.
• Portholes & Hatches: All 18 sliding aluminum portholes with 6 mm glazing and 2 hatches are new.
• Stainless Steel Fittings: All custom-made (bollards, fairleads, pushpits, stanchions, handrails, etc.)
• Masts: Both steel masts renovated; mainmast mounted on a pillar, mizzen on a supporting frame.
• Engine & Generator: Engine fully rebuilt; generator and all tanks (fresh water, diesel, grey/black/hydraulic) are new.
• Electrical Equipment: 8 solar panels (345W/24V), controllers, cabinets, Victron isolation transformer, batteries, 12V/24V chargers, electric winches, 24V pumps, all electronics, radar, Wi-Fi/TNT antennas, GMDSS – all new.
• Comfort: Desalinator, 2 fridges, freezer, 4-function oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, air compressor — all new. 3 electric toilets. Galley layout designed for offshore use.

Pen Doar accommodates 10 people on a cruise with 3 double en-suite cabins for 6 people and 4 additional berths.
A spacious cockpit with a U-shaped seating area and a steering column is centered around a double door that leads to a 360° glass-enclosed wheelhouse with anti-breakage glass (4+1+4/8/3+1+3).
On the port side, there is the pilotage area with a door for direct access to the deck, and on the starboard side, a dining table.
A staircase leads to a lounge area with a home cinema TV, a small washbasin adjacent to it providing access to the machinery, and on the port side, a fully equipped kitchen.
From the lounge, a small corridor has a hatch that can serve as an emergency exit.
A laundry workshop in the forward compartment (with a berth), which also serves as a sail locker, communicates with the deck and serves as an emergency exit. In the aft, there are 2 technical rooms and the machinery.
