Owner speaks : We placed the order for our Feeling 39, Nanuk-Bras, in the summer of 2010. We had very personalised specifications, built up over many years of sailing, both as owners and charterers. We wanted a yacht with recognised seaworthiness, an all-round dinghy to give us the freedom to explore the anchorages and beached places we love. Sailing mainly with two people, we wanted a two-cabin version, with an aft locker and separate toilets; also a return to the cockpit for all manoeuvres; and a corian galley for its rot-proof qualities. We also wanted an aft gantry to store a semi-rigid tender and support solar panels and a wind generator. Finally, we wanted a Refleks stove installed in the saloon, totally independent of the electrical system.
For 15 years, most of our summer holidays have been spent on board, along the French coast, from the Isle of Oleron to the Baie-de-Somme, as well as discovering the SW and E coasts of Ireland, Wales, English Cornwall, the SE coast of England as far as the Isle of Wight, and for the last two years the islands and lochs of Scotland, which have taken us as far as Stornoway. Over the years, Nanuk-Bras has provided us with all the comfort, safety and versatility we've come to expect. She's certainly not a racing boat, she needs a bit of breeze and close-hauled sailing is not her favourite point of sail, but she lengthens her stride as soon as she gets some air in the sails and remains very safe when the wind picks up. Finally, she has benefited from uncompromising maintenance every year.
